Cafe

cafe-food-fun

We opened February 2005.  Harry Lehotsky’s vision was to create a welcoming place for white collar, blue collar and no collar.  He came to the idea after meeting a guy named Chris, (who struggled against destructive forces in his own life—more about Chris’s story can be found in Harry Lehotsky’s biography ’The Urban Saint’ by Paul Boge and articles wrote by Harry in his column for the Winnipeg Sun).  Here is a quote from Chris that inspired Harry.  ‘It’s hard to comprehend the loneliness felt by people who are working hard to change their lives.  Change in life often requires many changes in relationships and much time alone’.  The Café serves some of that need.

The Café has no liquor license, at the request of community residents in recovery from addictions that wanted a “dry” place to relax and eat.
